American Volunteer Medical Services

Who Are We?

American Volunteer Medical Services is a Non-Profit, Volunteer event medical organization. We cater to the Buffalo/ Western New York area and we provide free event medical coverage for any small to moderate sized event. Our mission is simple; save lives. We want to save as many lives as possible which is why we are a volunteer agency. Big Event Medical companies are extremely costly and will deter people from utilizing any event medical services. Even though we do not charge for our services, donations of any amount are graciously accepted, as it is our only means of income.

Why Were We Founded?

AVMS is Founded by two people after they saw the need for event medical services first hand at a local community function. Frank Lewalski, an Eagle Scout and Volunteer Fireman was very interested in First Aid at a young age and has always wanted to get into the medical field. Ethan Dermont, a Boy Scout and Volunteer Fireman has also been very interested in First Aid. One day while the two were together at their local Church Picnic, an elderly woman suddenly collapsed and was presumably having a heart attack. The local Fire Department took 12 minutes to arrive and by that time the elderly patients condition had severely deteriorated. It is unknown weather she survived or not. This case sparked an idea that any organization, or company should have access to event medical services in case of scenarios as previously described. If there were trained professionals ready to assist this woman, her chances of survival would have been substantially higher. Thus, the birth of American Volunteer Medical Services, an organization completely dedicated to the patient. Since the founding of AVMS in 2016, the organization has saved numerous lives that might have been lost had they not been present. Sine then, the organization has expanded and has several volunteers who work to help others. We hope to continue the growth of our organization and we hope to save the lives of many people to come.
